The ministry of defence official spokesman Mr Mohamed Al-Askari emphasised on the continuous decline of the influence of the armed groups on the areas of South of Baghdad and in Aldorra in particular.
He said in press conference today that the terrorists started to flee from those areas because of the tight security arrangements by our security forces and the successful cooperation with the multi national forces during the second phase of Baghdad security plan.
With regards to the latest operation in Arab Jobour area which ended with the arrest of more than 60 gunmen. Al_askari said the plan was executed after receiving a precise intelligence information which produced the arrest of number of wanted persons who involved in criminal and terrorism acts against civilians and security forces.
The MOD spokesman thanked the citizens and highly regarded their cooperation with the security forces by giving vital information to arrest the criminals and terrorists who are trying to affect the security of the innocents civilians.
Mr Al-Askari clarified that the volatile areas will witness notable changes in security matters and bigger improvements, especially following relocation of the security forces and multi national forces in those areas.
